Welcome to the tenth installment of the Pipeline Community Spotlight! Each week, we’ll be highlighting a member of the community and their story in an effort to share learnings among each other and bring everyone closer together even in these trying times.
Meet Gigglestink, a full-time Facebook streamer and mom! After seeing streams pop up on her timeline, this lifelong gamer decided to take the leap and chase streaming as a career. Since then, she’s built a solid community around her enthusiastic personality — making content for different games, all the way from Call of Duty and Minecraft to Monster Hunter and Dead by Daylight.
Earlier this week, we interviewed Gigglestink to learn a bit more about her, how she got started, how she works as a creator and her plans for the future. Here’s what she had to say!
Who are you? How would you describe yourself to someone you had just met?
My name is GiggleStink, I’m a variety Streamer on Facebook Gaming where I’ve been streaming for a little over a year. Along with playing a variety of games I also concentrate on being a positive person with tons of energy!
How did you get into gaming?
My entire family is full of gamers, My dad was really into gaming and raised my siblings and I to be gamers as well. It all started with the SNES for me, playing Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country.
How did your streaming journey start?
My journey with streaming started when Live Streams started popping up on my Facebook Timeline. I started watching female streamers who were also mothers and it inspired me to also take the plunge and start streaming myself.
What are some of the most memorable milestones/achievements of your streaming career?
One of the biggest accomplishments in streaming was unlocking Supporters on Facebook Gaming within 4 months of streaming, I was able to get supporters when it was still invite only so it felt really good, especially when I was only streaming for 4 months.
On the topic of memorable, what about challenges?
I think I’m currently in the middle of one of my biggest challenges, Covid-19 has my kids at home, so streaming full time hours is really hard for me. Also the algorithm currently does not like my variety streams so making sure my energy and content are still up to par while dealing with stresses is currently a challenge for me.
What do you wish you knew when you were starting out as a streamer that you want new ones to know?
I wish I knew in the beginning to hide the view counter. It really shouldn’t matter how many people are watching, your energy and your content should always be consistent through the entire stream. And you’ll never be satisfied. Once the view count is high you’ll want it to get higher and higher so just make sure you put out the best content and be grateful daily.
What motivates you to keep streaming? Is this something you see doing for a long while?
What motivates me everyday is my community, I always want to know how they are doing and what they think about the next update, or new game, or newly released materials. I get excited to nerd out and talk about games. This is something I see me doing for a long while, I intend on showing people a fair representation of video games.
What defines you as a content creator? What do you think sets you apart from other streamers?
What sets me apart from others is my enthusiasm and charisma. I enter every stream with a positive outlook, excited to talk to my community and play video games! It makes me happy and I want to spread that happiness as well.
How were you able to transition from a part-time to a full-time content creator?
On a personal level my kids being in school definitely helped me become full time, Now that my children are distance learning doing two smaller streams during the day instead of one big one stream definitely helps. I also dedicate hours during the day for doing behind the scenes stuff like; work on Youtube Videos, Thumbnails, or just improving my content in general.
What are your goals for the future? Long term and short term.
My Short Term Goals are getting a set routine of two streams a day and generate a reliable income. Long Term *dream* Goal is to be partnered with PlayStation or a Game Developer Company to broadcast their newly released games.
Any shoutouts you’d like to do? Where can people find you on the internet?
You’ll find me as GiggleStink on any social media platform, Facebook Gaming, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and even TikTok.
